Extractions
A patient may be referred to an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for extractions for a number of reasons which may include:
- Anticipated difficult extraction due to factors such as long or curled roots, solid bone or heavily filled or very broken down teeth.
- Due to medical factors of the patient.
- Some dentists prefer not to carry out extractions and prefer to direct their efforts to other areas of dentistry.
- Some patients prefer to have extractions carried out by Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons due to their expertise, extensive training, and specialized equipment they have.
